Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has triggered significant changes in the landscape of educational leadership. Alongside the emergence of increasingly sophisticated artificial intelligence technologies capable of rivaling human cognitive abilities, educational leaders now face new challenges in strategically integrating digital technologies into their leadership practices. However, reports indicate that some educational leaders remain inconsistent in their use of digital platforms for school administration and management purposes. Accordingly, this quantitative study was conducted to identify the relationships and contributions of technological experience and digital literacy to digital leadership among educational leaders. A total of 1,878 respondents participated in the study, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The results revealed a moderate and significant relationship between technological experience and digital leadership, while the relationship between digital literacy and digital leadership was significant but weak. In addition, both independent variables were identified as significant predictors of digital leadership, with technological experience and digital literacy collectively accounting for 29.4% of the variance in educational leaders’ digital leadership. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for stakeholders in designing more targeted professional development initiatives to produce digitally fluent educational leaders. To further strengthen the understanding of digital leadership, future research is recommended to examine other factors that may potentially influence the development of digital leadership in educational contexts.
